Hyperdestruction today.  Media hype is a two edged sword for sure and many bands haver fallen by the wayside as a result of it.  The NME are infamous for over bloating bands to a level they can’t justify and/or can’t sustain (Razorlight & Glasvegas to name two).  Here then is the latest potential victim.  The new Maccabees album is indeed very good but can it absorb all the pressure being mounted on it by the media?  Jewels in the sand are more difficult to identify at this time of the year so there’s a danger of over eulogising on ones we do find.  I think The Maccabbes may be up to the challenge, but let’s see who remembers, come the year-end listings.
