Track Of The Day #17: Ceremony – Hysteria

Ceremony

The band are Ceremony and the album “Zoo”.  They are a little too hardcore for my liking, although people assured me the new release was less brittle and they were right.  It still won’t feature on my year-end listings, but I did enjoy the nostalgic warmth it gave me, taking me back to the second generation of UK punk bands like UK Subs and Sham 69.  If that’s something that might appeal to you, then take an earful of the attached.

Time then for the Bummer Album Of The Week.  ‘Super Groups’ have a history of disappointment I know, so when you learn of a band that amalgamates members of Coldplay, Mew and A-Ha you have to feel a little apprehensive surely.  The band is called Apparatjik, a word that has something to do with confusion.  Well no confusion with the album, it’s shite! If you’re into Scritti Politti but wanted it interspersing with random noiseand the odd Frankie Goes To Hollywood chant, then you will disagree with my view….and you should resign from this group with immediate effect.
