Bummer album of the Week: Simon Fowler (Ocean Colour Scene) – MerryMouth

Ocean Colour Scene got wrapped up in the whole indie/Britpop scene of the nineties and released a fine album in ‘Moseley Shoals’. They also released eight other albums, but you don’t need to be concerned about them. One of their strengths was the distinctive powerful vocals of Simon Fowler. Well the man has recorded a solo album, ‘Merrymouth’, and, being mainly acoustic, is a splendid foundation to display his vocal skills off. Oh dear, what limp tunes, what forgettable compositions, what a wasted opportunity…what a Bummer album.
