Just out is a new Black Sabbath album, ’13’, which probably doesn’t cause as much stir as it did forty years ago. The old crew are pretty much all together again and there is something about the Osbourne/Iommi combination that defines rock n roll. The second generation of the band weren’t half bad though, with Ronnie Dio stepping in Ozzie’s shoes and that was more testament to the contribution Iommi made to the band’s sound. The new album does recapture a fair amount of that old noise and makes for a highly credible offering indeed. If the reunion also means that Ozzie has rediscovered drink and drugs, then I count that as a positive thing if it rids him of his detestable wife (just the fat kids to shoot now).
