Last month, San Diego noise pop band duo Crocodiles announced that they’d be releasing their new album Dreamless on 21st October via their own label Zoo Music. Speaking of the album, Brandon Welchez said: “We’ve always been a guitar band and I think we just wanted to challenge ourselves and our aesthetic […] It didn’t start as a conscious decision but within the first week Charlie’s mantra became ‘fuck guitars’. Only one song has zero guitar but in general we tried to find alternatives to fill that space.”
At the same time, they shared the audio for new single ‘Telepathic Lover,’ a track punctuated by infectious piano melodies alongside their usual fuzzy guitars. Now the single has a new video, directed by Andrés Kenugan in Mexico City. It taps into the some of the lo-fi, DIY spirit of the band as they play on a retro TV as a young man and woman look on and express their emotions while viewing.
Kenugan said: “The concept of the video comes from the lyrics to the song. We wanted to recreate those feelings that come to mind when you find someone else – in this case this person has these feelings when he is watching a video of Crocodiles […] We wanted to show in this from the point of view of the shadows; they are talking.” Watch below.
The duo have also announced that they’ll be playing a few UK shows as part of their European tour in October. Details below.
