Psychedelic pop musician Connan Mockasin and Late of the Pier and LA PRIEST’s Sam Dust have revealed that they’ve been working together on a brand new album under the name Soft Hair. The self-titled album, which comes out via Weird World on 28th October, was recorded across five years during the pair’s own solo careers and outside lives after meeting when Mockasin supported Late of the Pier in 2009. While Dust went on to form LA PRIEST and travelled across Africa, Europe and Asia, Mockasin toured extensively with his two albums Forever Dolphin and Caramel.
Thus, Soft Hair was recorded in a wide variety of locations using methods that neither musician had utilised before, developed by the pair at the start of the project. As a result, it’s a record that promises to transport the listener to exotic worlds that are both familiar and yet unfamiliar, with unconventional sounds.
