NEWS: Alcest announce new album ‘Kodama’ and co-headline tour with Mono

NEWS: Alcest share new track ‘Je Suis D’Ailleurs’

On 30th September, French blackgaze duo Alcest will be releasing their new album Kodama via Prophecy Productions.  The concept behind the LP was originally inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s iconic anima Princess Mononoke, the album attempts to pick up on the fate of its protagonists and deals with the sensations of not belonging and living in-between worlds.  It also features artwork from French graphic designer duo Fortifem.

Touching on the overarching themes of the album, new track ‘Je Suis D’Ailleurs’ (or ‘I Am From Elsewhere’ in English) openly references the concept of being caught between two worlds.  Typically urgent but also shadowy, it continues to see the band occupying an obscure space between shoegaze and doom.  Listen below.

Alcest are also heading out on an extensive co-headline tour with Japan’s Mono to help promote Kodama in November.  Details below.
