3 South & Banana ‘Fake Jungle’ Video Premiere

3 South & Banana released the sun kissed tropical pop of their new single ‘Fake Jungle’ last week, today we premiere the accompanying video, a cosmic trip through the palm tree lined shorelines featuring some clever visual animation daubed in pastel, pinks, blues and greens. It was made by artist Gutless Wonder – https://gutlesswonder.me/.

3 South & Banana is the musical moniker of Berlin-based, France-born singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Aurélien Bernard. His new EP is due in September.

Fake Jungle  explores the theme of overcoming fear and doubt, via a surreal anecdote from Bernard’s time playing as a session drummer in Las Vegas, “one night James Brown came and sat in with a band I was playing with. I honestly could not play well. It was fear. Fear of not being good enough for James Brown”. The track title is a reference to the hotel Mirage in Las Vegas where Bernard played, which features a fake greenhouse jungle, and Bernard drew musical inspiration for the track from American psych-soul artist Shuggie Otis.

Bernard previously played in Vadoinmessico, the band that went on to become Cairobi. 3 South & Banana is Bernard’s debut solo project, and he has launched the single, Fake Jungle, in July 2018.

With an EP forthcoming, and live performances in the planning, Bernard explains “for the live show I’m collaborating with artist Tartaruga Feliz, to create a different kind of live visual, virtual band experience”.

Some Other Planet records launched to release the output from Vadoinmessico and then Cairobi, and they’ve recently released the new album, Cliffhanger, from Japanese musician Grimm Grimm
