Sleater-Kinney have revealed their new single ‘Hurry On Home’, produced by St Vincent. Still possessing all of the attitude and energy of trademark Sleater-Kinney, but now utilised in a new way, with driving percussion and fizzing guitars tumble forth, led like an army by vocals that document instropection and an unquenchable need for human contact. Watch the Messenger and Instagram inspired ‘Hurry On Home’ lyric video directed by Miranda July, below.
Earlier this year they shared the news on social media that they’d been in studio collaborating with St Vincent’s Annie Clark. Now they reveal their first new material since 2015’s No Cities To Love.
“I think for Carrie and Corin it was liberating to explore a different sound palette,” said drummer Janet Weiss of new music, singer Carrie Brownstein adding: “Instead of just going into the studio to document what we’d done, we were going in to explore and to find the essence of something. To dig in deeper.”
Guitarist Corin Tucker said that the new music “was like this manic energy of empowerment.”
