EXCLUSIVE: Koza Showcases Her Talents With New Single ‘Hold My Breath’

Having announced herself to the world back in January with debut single ‘Here With Me’, which earned herself several critical plaudits and numerous streams across the likes of Spotify and Soundcloud, Koza is maintaining her strong year with the release of new track ‘Hold My Breath’. The song showcases a different, more romantic and softer, yet somehow also energetic side to the artist, with hints of melancholy thrown in for good measure.

Born and raised in Istanbul, Koza grew up listening to her parent’s music collections, packed with huge and iconic acts such as Depeche Mode, No Doubt, The Cure and Fiona Apple. With a growing passion for mainstream music – notably by stars from the UK and US, she began writing her own songs and performing local shows that allowed her to hone her craft, before moving to the UK and taking the step to share her growing talents with the world at the start of this year. Since then, her star has continued to rise and her new release looks set to comtniue that assent.

Asked about the story and inspiration behind ‘Hold My Breath’, Koza says: “I wrote this song for a future lover, a lover I’ve haven’t even met. To be honest, all the love songs I write are about a lover I’ve never met. I haven’t experienced the type of love I write about, but I’m in no rush to experience it either. I am still on a quest of self-discovery & I believe I have to find myself before I can find some significant other. It’s essential to experiment with life to realize what it is you really want, and to trust that whoever is out there is on their own journey just like you are.”

She goes on to add that: “I was originally planning to release another song, but considering the times we’re going through, I wanted to release a more upbeat single. Here’s hoping ‘Hold my Breath’ will spread some good energy.”
