PREVIEW: Red Rooster Festival 2022 4

PREVIEW: Red Rooster Festival 2022

When: 2nd – 4th June 2022
Where: Euston Hall, Suffolk, England

In a little over two weeks’ time some 6,000 folks will make their merry way to the delightfully familiar surroundings of Euston Hall for what will be the eighth edition of the Red Rooster Festival. An annual celebration of some of the very best in Cajun, soul, rock’n’roll, blues, roots, and country music that is around today, the event is now firmly established on the UK’s festival calendar.

This year’s headline acts are the American blues musician Seasick Steve, who will top the bill on the main stage on Friday night, with his fellow countryman and vintage R&B aesthetic Nick Waterhouse closing out the festival some 24 hours later.

An incredibly strong supporting musical cast features the legendary blues band North Mississippi Allstars; Sugarray Rayford, a man who “combines classic soul melodies with funky R&B grooves, and raw blues”; The Sheepdogs with their wonderful Southern boogie; hill country blues man Cedric Burnside; and the renowned country singer, violinist and guitarist, Joshua Hedley.

Over the course of the three day event there will be a total of 40 musical acts playing on Red Rooster’s two main stages – including Jim Lauderdale, Robert Finley, Elles Bailey, Luther Dickinson, and Smoke Fairies – and they will all be ably complemented by a range of top DJs in the Howlin’ Woods dance tent.

The day splits are as follows:

Red Rooster 1

Red Rooster 2

Red Rooster 3

Red Rooster is much more than just music, though, something to which a delicious range of southern American-themed food, BBQ and outdoor cooking; river swimming and swan pedalos; back-to-basics survival and wilderness living workshops; fairground rides; and a great variety of traditional carnival games will all firmly attest, appealing to all members of the family. Dogs are also well catered for at Red Rooster with trainers on site to answer all of your canine questions, as well as there being the opportunity to test your dog’s agility around their obstacle course.
