NEWS: Craig Walker and the Cold release ‘Golden Ticket’ video ahead of Electric Shoes album

Berlin-based duo Craig Walker & The Cold have just released the latest single from their upcoming album Electric Shoes, due on March 10th via The State 51 Conspiracy. Latest single, Golden Ticket gives us a taste of the LP, with its soaring anthemic riffs, psych-laced hooks, multi-textured vocals and juxtaposed layers of light and shade. The song has a timeless quality and has all the hallmarks of an enduring classic.

Its prog /psych-rock stylings, brimming with contemporary production contrasts the soaring vocals with dark yet buoyant lyrics reminiscent of The Smiths. This track was made to be played on heavy rotation and sung by the masses.

Craig Walker and the Cold is a collaboration between prolific Irish artist and songwriter, Craig Walker, front-man with Power of Dreams, Mineral, and Archive and respected Canadian producer/songwriter Erik Alcock, who has written songs with Eminem, Celine Dion and Pink. Together the duo celebrate over two billion streams of songs they have either performed, written or produced on.

The band was born out of mutual respect for each other’s work. Walker said, “We were introduced to each other in 2020 by mutual friends. Erik had recently relocated to Berlin and we arranged a writing session together soon after. We had no idea that writing session would prove to be so fruitful and inspiring. By the end of the day we had decided to create CW&theCold”

Front-man, Craig Walker, has been releasing music since his debut album with Power of Dreams on Polydor Records in 1990. Power of Dreams had huge success in Ireland, the UK and Japan, releasing four albums over a hectic six-year period. Craig went on to join Archive in 2000 and released three albums to huge acclaim around Central and Eastern Europe. Since then Craig has collaborated with a number of acts including Mineral, Booka Shade, dance outfit WUSA as well as Them There. A Them There track, ‘Fade Out Lines‘ co-written by Craig and Phoebe Kildeer was reworked by The Avener and has recently gone six times platinum in France and was a radio number one in more than thirty countries around the world.

Craig Walker & The Cold’s debut LP, Electric Shoes. will be widely available from March 10th, 2023 via The State51 Conspiracy. This eagerly awaited debut album was recorded in Berlin with collaborations from British/Berlin-based prog-rock enthusiast Mark Reeder who said that this album “is a homage to Berlin and a worthy follow up to Iggy‘s Lust for Life,” while Eric Alcock (aka The Cold) said, “Electric Shoes is an eclectic record drawing inspiration from folk and psych of the 60s and 70s with a modern twist.“

Electric Shoes, “is a very personal record. that takes the listener on a journey from the flats of 1980’s Dublin to the brutalist sunrise of a post-club morning in Berlin, ” akin to The Kinks/Small Faces with a modern sheen. “The whole album has a certain spirituality to it. It evokes the feeling that while it’s good to reflect on the past, it’s important to not let it destroy you.”
