NEWS: The Pale frontman, Matthew Devereux, announces solo album ‘House Devil’

Prolific, award winning songsmith Matthew Devereux from The Pale is set to release his first solo album of songs called ‘House Devil’ on 12th April.

Giving us a glimpse of his upcoming album, Matthew shares latest single ‘Haunted By’ an intense, soul stirring track asking, “Who would you rather be haunted by someone from the other side, or someone from this side?” The breathless track, explores existential questions of life after death, weaving deep resonant vocals with acoustic strings, drones, elegant keys, soaring ghostly outros, synths and the quivering vibrato of the theremin. Dark and atmospheric, it’s a world away from the upbeat energy of The Pale, but equally as eloquent.

Dublin born Devereux has been actively making music since 1990, beginning with the formation of the much-loved band The Pale who immediately captivated audiences with their energetic live shows which quickly led to a bidding war between numerous record labels battling to sign them up.

Eventually signing with A&M Records and releasing their debut album Here’s One We Made Earlier in 1992, the album featured the classic Irish singles ‘Butterfly’ And ‘Dogs With No Tails’ which peaked at No. 51 in the UK Singles chart in June 1992. The band received Hot Press awards in 1992 for Best Single (‘Butterfly‘) and Best Album Production (Here’s One We Made Earlier)

They have toured the world extensively and have made a dozen albums to date and recently celebrated their 30th anniversary in the music industry and released a career spanning best of collection entitled Paleanthology.

The upcoming ten-song album was written, performed, and produced solely by Matthew and will be released on glorious 140g vinyl via Dublin Vinyl.

The album is available for pre-order here and will be released on 12th April
