NEWS: further details of Red Rooster Festival’s 10th anniversary celebrations

And let the countdown begin! Eight weeks from now Euston Hall will open the gates to its sumptuous grounds for what will be the 10th anniversary of the Red Rooster Festival, the annual celebration of Cajun, soul, rock’n’roll, blues, roots, and country music. 

At the beginning of February we brought you the exciting news of this year’s full music line-up, featuring such great acts as the highly-acclaimed Western swing band Asleep At The WheelGalen & Paul –  the brand new project from singer-songwriter Galen Ayers and former bassist with The Clash, Paul Simonon – the celebrated American blues musician Robert Finley, and Stax soul legend William Bell.

Now we are delighted to share with you details of some of the fantastic activities that will be on offer at Red Rooster 2024. The ever-popular River Swimming will once more be back at Euston Hall as will be the opportunity to hire one of the festival’s swan pedolos.

Discovery Channel and TV Prehistoric Survivalist, Will Lord will also be back at Red Rooster with his team to offer another fascinating array of displays of Ancient Carvings, Flint Knapping, Wild Butchery Cooking of Venison, Natural Cordage and Tanning Techniques.

The “Back to Wilderness” team will be providing a selection of short workshops to choose from. Learn how to give life to fire, carve a spoon, make a small basket, see a variety of survival traps from around the world and you can also learn the art of axe and knife throwing. 

The Howlin’ Woods stage, before it gets really jumping for some late-night boogie sessions, will host kids’ movies on Friday and Saturday mornings from 11am, Doc n’ Roll documentaries from 1pm, and then dance lessons for the next four hours from Hank JD Sleek and dance troupe Shag Pile.

Children can get into the party spirit with Mardi Gras Parades, morning motivational dance warm-ups, face painting, and tin foil fashion shows. There is also fancy-dress football, giant twister or disco pass the parcel as well as climbing frames, den building in the woods, traditional carnival games, tug of war, hook a duck, Wild West tin can alley and much more to explore.

There will be countless vintage stores at Red Rooster this year, including the cigar box guitar workshops, flower head-dress workshops, devil’s poker lounge, a croquet lawn, football tables, and axe throwing courtesy of the Flying Iron Company. 

Furthermore, Red Rooster is known for its high-calibre food offerings and 2024 will be no different in this regard. New for the 10th anniversary, Red Rooster has teamed up with award-winning BBQ specialists Meat Street BBQ, to offer a sit-down banquet on each day of the festival. Themed to match the style of BBQ offering, you’ll be able to go traditional American BBQ on the Thursday with the “Smokestack Lighting” Banquet and an Asian BBQ on the Friday with the “How The East Was Won” Banquet. Red Rooster has consistently sold out for the past five years, and as expected tickets have been flying off the shelves at a record pace for its 10th anniversary in 2024. It is one of the best-value festival experiences with weekend tickets available for just £149.50 + booking fee for the entire weekend with three nights of camping and complimentary parking. As always, children aged 12 and under go free and discounted teen tickets are available also.
