Irish indie rock band The Coronas played to a sold out Cargo last week, as part of their first headlining UK tour. Fronted by Danny O’Reilly (son of famous Irish folk singer Mary Black) they worked through their past 3 albums, including new release ‘Closer to you’.
Like Snow Patrol, or U2 they know the value of a good anthemic chorus or 2 and easily get the crowd filling in for some sing alongs. While some of their material may come across on record as a bit middle of the road, live they have an unaffected energy and enthusiasm that is hard to be cynical about.
