Track Of The Day #287: The Last Sound ‘Three Rock’

The Last Sound

Fellow sonic travellers on the vapourous road to dreamy synth pop and halcyon psych, The last Sound first made their mark as a live synth hardware/live drums combo, for a one-off performance at the Lazybird  night in Dublin, back in the noughties. Since than The Barry Murphy and Bryan O’Connell duo have steadily built up a catalogue of albums, EPs, compilation appearances, remixes and live mp3s, distributed via a network of various underground labels, both in their native Ireland and overseas.

For his sins, Barry has also been a loose member of, one-time Can shamanic vocalist, Damo Suzuki‘s ‘never-ending’ tour band – appearing on his One More Universe album – and is one-half of the psycho-drone outfit Whirling Hall Of Knives.

Taken from the recent Rainbow Xplode album (8th June 2013 via Irish label Osaka) the indolent arpeggiator, hypnotic Ladytron cooing ‘Three Rocks’ is both the single and a congruous taster of what to expect from the drifting diaphanous electronic duo.
