In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of his passing, LOVE revisited are about to embark on a UK tour to celebrate the music of Arthur Lee and the seminal Los Angeles rock band Love. This tour not only sees his longest serving band perform classic songs from Love’s first three albums Love, DeCapo and the game-changing Forever Changes, but will also feature the original Love guitarist and Lee’s fellow founding member Johnny Echols.
From 1993 until Lee’s premature death from leukaemia in 2006, Baby Lemonade (named after the Syd Barrett song) was his backing band. They performed with him on what was a constant tour of North America, UK, Europe and Australia between 2002 and 2005. The countless sold-out shows they played included two consecutive appearances at Glastonbury Festival, Roskilde in Denmark and London’s Royal Festival Hall where the Forever Changes Concert was recorded.
This tour will also mark the 50th anniversary of Love, a band who sprang out of the mid-1960’s Los Angeles rock scene. They are recognized as being the first multiracial rock band and were the very first rock outfit to be signed by Jac Holzman’s folk label, Elektra. Love went on to release the classic Forever Changes, a record that consistently features in the top 100 albums of all time. Love’s unquestionable masterwork – featuring timeless songs such as ‘Alone Again Or’, ‘And More Again’ and ‘A House is Not a Motel’ – captures the darker side of the hippie dream and serves as the perfect antithesis to the then summer of love.
