NEWS: Festival 23 debuts later in July with a focus on Discordianism

When: 22nd-24th July
Where: Secret location, South Yorkshire

Billed as an exploration of contemporary counterculture and inspired by generations of more radical writers and artists, Festival 23 will be launching later this month at a secret location in South Yorkshire.  The festival has its roots in Discordianism, which was founded in the early 60’s and invented to bend and essentially redesign reality.

Many of the events taking place and artists participating have a direct line back to the original Discordian movement.  Half of hitmaking duo The KLF, Jimmy Cauty, psychedelic rock band Knifeworld, and cast and crew from the Cosmic Trigger Play will all be performing.  Also set to make an appearance are Super Weird Substance, which features legendary DJ Greg Wilson and Ruthless Rap Assassins.  Current member of Beyond the Wizards Sleeve, Richard Norris is also coming to the event, as are DIY act Cowtown.  Meanwhile, sometime Super Weird Substance member and one half of Black Grape Kermit is also on the bill.  Elsewhere, writer John Higgs – who previously wrote about The KLF – will be delivering a new talk entitled ‘Ziggy Blackstar and the Art of Becoming.’
