Jenn Wasner (vocalist of rockers Wye Oak and Dungeonesse) revealed recently that she’d be releasing a new album under the name Flock of Dimes, the moniker she’s been using for a few bedroom releases over the past few years. If You See Me, Say Yes comes out on 23rd September via Partisan Records and it’s set to sum up her many years honing and crafting her sound as an electro-acoustic artist. It’ll be her second record this year, after Wye Oak surprise-released their new album Tween last month.
While the initial announcement was accompanied by a small snippet of music, Wasner has just shared a fuller glimpse of what the record will sound like in ‘Semaphore.’ While it begins with simple acoustic guitar, it soon turns into a beat-filled, stuttering electronic jam that’s surprisingly funk-filled. Essentially a glittering pop song, it’s not dissimilar to what Kristin Welchez of Dum Dum Girls achieved under her moniker Kristin Kontrol earlier in the year. Listen below.
