NEWS: Scarlet Rascal to release self-titled debut album in September, share ‘Strange’

Lo-fi mood-rockers Scarlet Rascal have announced that they’ll be releasing their self-titled debut album on 30th September via Invada Recordings.  After discovering the band for himself, Portishead man Geoff Barrow has mentored Scarlet Rascal and signed them to his own cult Invada label.  He’s now also mixed their new LP alongside Craig Silvey, who has also worked with Arcade Fire and The National.

The finished record is set to capture their own low-lit, moody corner with a rough and ready edge.  That comes out in their brand new single ‘Strange,’ a driving garage-rock tune that’s like a mix between Television, Joy Division and the malice of early Interpol.  There’s a distinctly choppy, non-polished feel to the track that also makes it even more raw, with a fuzzy layer of guitar creating an enveloping wall of sound.  Listen below.
