NEWS: American Football announce first album in 17 years

It’s been a full 17 years since rockers American Football released their self-titled debut album, having only played a small handful of shows and clubs.  Since then, American Football has become something of a cult classic, becoming one of Polyvinyl Records’ biggest sellers to date.  Nearly two decades down the line, the band have resurfaced and announced that they’ll be releasing their sophomore effort on 21st October via Wichita.  The LP, which is also self-titled, follows a reunion for a few shows in 2014.

The band have also shared a track from the new album, ‘I’ve Been Lost For So Long.’  It’s a track that shows that the group haven’t taken too much of a detour from their somewhat emo-pioneering sound, but is slightly more expansive.  Like is what to be expected with much of the record, and predictably given the amount of time that has passed since their debut, the lyrics are also a bit more mature and world-weary.  Listen below.

Currently, the band are only playing one show in the UK in the future, a date at Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London on 11th February 2017.
