NEWS: The Alan Parsons Project’s ‘Tales of Mystery and Imagination’ is given 40th anniversary re-release

Tales of Mystery and Imagination, The Alan Parsons Project’s first album, was released in 1976, officially launching the career of the cult prog-rock band.  The 11 tracks were based on the works of American gothic writer Edgar Allan Poe and helped to set apart producer and engineer Alan Parsons and full-time project member Eric Woolfson apart from the crowd.

Now, with the blessing of both Parsons and Woolfson’s family, Tales of Mystery and Imagination is being re-released on 2nd December to mark its 40th anniversary.  The new deluxe edition will comprise of three CDs, one blue-ray and two vinyl LPs. The CDs comprise of the originally mix, the 1987 remix and a whole 70 minutes of previously unreleased bonus material.  Approved by Parsons, the original vinyl has been half-speed mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road.  It’s all being accompanied by a 60-page coffee table book, with photographs and new interviews with Parsons about the making of the album.

The deluxe edition is available to pre-order now.  Listen to ‘The Raven’ below.
