NEWS: Girl Ray share new video for ‘Trouble’

A couple of weeks ago, North London trio Girl Ray – Poppy Hankin, Iris McConnell and Sophie Moss – released their single ‘Trouble,’ their debut single on Moshi Moshi.  According to the band, the track was about “apathy and hating yourself for trying to win pointless arguments in snakey ways […] It’s about turning into someone you don’t like,” and had flashes of Cate Le Bon in its understated yet clever indie hooks.

The single’s new video, directed by Alex Cantouris, is just as heart-warming as the track itself, showing off the trio as they play a pretty confusing game of rounders after completing various morning routines.  Hankin says of the video: “We wanted the “Trouble” video to be centred around a big game of rounders and getting ready for it in the morning […]  We each came up with twelve different random-ish things that we would be filmed doing, and then the morning after filming those we went to a park and tried our best to do some kind of baseball/ rounders hybrid game.  We’re very confused about sport in general and that definitely shone through.” Watch below.

Girl Ray are playing a number of shows in the coming weeks as special guests of Haley Bonar, Slow Club and Ezra Furman. Visit their Facebook page for more information.
