Today’s video of the week comes from Walt’s Frozen Head a surreal cut up video influenced by Terry Gilliam’s Monty Python animations, soundtracked by the heady and hypnotic eponymously titled ‘Walt’s Frozen Head’. A swirling riot of psychy garage rock ripe with hollered madness, off the wall melodies, stylophones and fuzzy guitars with echoes of everyone from early Flaming Lips and Pink Floyd to MGMT.
“It’s a song loosely based around my morbid fascination with the myth that Walt Disney requested that his head be frozen, to then be brought back to life in the future.” Enzo explains again. “Can you imagine my disappointment,” he continues “when I was informed of a film made by the staff of Disney World called ‘The Further Adventures Of Walt’s Frozen Head’?!”
“Having been in several ‘meat and potato’ indie bands the last thing I wanted to serve was a shepherd’s pie” explains Alfie Enzo, the crazy brainchild behind Leeds band Walt’s Frozen Head. “Hopefully, this is more poached eggs and trifle”.
Taking as much influence from The League of Gentlemen and Terry Gilliam as from ‘60s psych and avant-garde pop. Leeds based Walt’s Frozen Head, and the myriad facets that combine to make them what they are.
‘Walt’s Frozen Head’ is just the first taste of things to come. Taken from an as yet untitled forthcoming EP.
