The Welsh Government are sponsoring a series of live gigs under the name Stafell Fyw (Living Room).
The tour started in December, and will finish at the start of next year, taking place entirely via Welsh language tv channel S4C‘s Lŵp strand. Launched in August 2019, Lŵp is a new platform for contemporary Welsh music and culture.
Living Room kicked off earlier this month with Calan and Gwilym Bowen Rhys performing in Yr Egin in Carmarthen.
On Weds 16 December Welsh Music Prize winners Adwaith and Pys Melyn will play at Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach at 7.30 – 9.30pm.
And finally, on the 6 January at Galeri in Caernarfon, a set by Gwilym and Alffa.
Amanda Rees, S4C Director of Content said:
“2020 has been a very difficult year for many, including those involved in concerts and live gigs.
“So being able to commission 3 live gigs at various locations across Wales is certainly very exciting. It’s great to support and showcase everyone involved in this tour, as well as giving everyone at home a taste of live gigs.
“We are extremely grateful to the Welsh Government for sponsoring this tour.”
All three gigs will be broadcast live via Lŵp‘s YouTube channel and Facebook page. The shows are not available on demand, but some songs can be bought and downloaded from the Stafell Fyw website (stafellfyw.cymru) after the events.
