NEWS: Phil Cunningham’s Christmas Songbook returns for Scottish tour

Phil Cunningham MBE will be taking his Christmas Songbook on tour again this December in Scotland. This will include two dates at Edinburgh’s Queen’s Hall venue.

He will be joined by some of the most highly regarded musicians on the Scottish folk scene. These include Eddi Reader, who has become regarded as one of the finest interpreters of the work of Robert Burns, Karen Matheson OBE – best known as the singer of Capercaillie -and the award-winning Orcadian roots singer Kris Drever. Additionally the tour will also feature multi-instrumentalist John McCusker, double bassist Kevin McGuire and highly regarded traditional guitarist Ian Carr.

Speaking about the tour, Phil Cunningham said: ‘We can’t wait to hit the road and bring the Christmas Songbook to Edinburgh once again. The show has become a part of a lot of people’s festive traditions. Last year’s tour was derailed a little by Covid so we can’t wait to have a proper, long-awaited Christmas shindig at The Queen’s Hall. I’ll be joined by some old friends, who happen to be some of the best folk artists in the country.’

The live dates are as follows:

DECEMBER

13 – Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow

14 – The Albert Halls, Stirling

15 – Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries

17 – Music Hall, Aberdeen

18 – Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh

19 – Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh

20 – Perth Concert Hall, Perth
