NEWS: Róisín Murphy signs to Ninja Tune and shares refreshing new single ‘CooCool’ produced by DJ Koze

On International Woman’s day, we welcome back one of pop’s most invigorating forces. Róisín Murphy has announced that she’s signed to Ninja Tune, and shared her first new music since 2021 with ‘CooCool’, produced by electronic music auteur DJ Koze.

Murphy, once again, subverts expectations and conquers new territories with the multi-dimensional, genre-melding and soulful, ‘CooCool’. The cumulative brainchild of Murphy and DJ Koze and their pan-international method of working with each other, piecing together mosaic-like components of soul, disco and futuristic pop fusing them to Murphy’s trademark supple and imaginative vocals, the results are rather refreshing.

Ostensibly a fragile little flower yet it has great hidden strength at the roots. There’s classic virtuosity and a lightness of touch, while DJ Koze’s hyper-modern production makes it bounce and glide. It’s a stupidly romantic little love poem. “This thing is way beyond any kind of parody”. Everything in this song is true and playful. Can we fall in love and retain our sense of humour? ‘Embrace your inner child!’ Timeless, ageless, unavoidable love.” Róisín Murphy

The new single arrives hot on the heels of Murphy’s live-show announcement at the historic Royal Albert Hall on the 11th of May, which went on to sell out within 24 hours of going on sale. Murphy will deservedly take her place among the ranks of star-studded performers that have appeared at the iconic venue over the past century.

Continuously pushing boundaries in both recording and live settings, Róisín Murphy’s capacity to be an ever-evolving performer is a spectacle in itself. From live-streamed lockdown events to headline appearances at Glastonbury West Holts Stage, Homobloc, a sold-out Brixton Academy, Coachella and Primavera Sound, Murphy consistently proves to be a thrilling must-see artist in every sense of the word. This summer will further cement Murphy’s live reputation, with a festival calendar already including Melt Festival, Secret Garden Party, Mighty Hoopla, We Out Here and more.

Multi-faceted and fabulously unpredictable, Murphy’s decorated solo career has spanned 5 lauded albums, untouchable EP and single collaborations, breathtaking fashion pairings, Ibiza DJ sets, a podcast series and most recently an acting role (in 2022’s Netflix series ‘The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself’).
