NEWS: Save Womanby Street to be awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution of the Year’ at Cardiff Music Awards

The team behind Save Womanby Street will be awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution of the Year’ at this year’s Cardiff Music Awards. This news comes after last year’s series of campaign actions that included a march through Womanby Street, and pledges to protect the street’s status in a new music strategy for Cardiff that will be overseen by Sound Diplomacy.

Cardiff Music Awards say:

“After an overwhelming response during the nomination process, we are happy to announce the winner of the Outstanding Contribution of the Year award in 2018 is the team behind Save Womanby Street.

Over a few months in 2017, Save Womanby St won the support of many, including politicians, by pulling together countless letters from the public written by music fans to get their issues raised by those in the right positions.

These actions and responses meant that the campaign brought the music scene into a public light and the footfall to the venues in the city has grown significantly.

We hope the great work of Save Womanby Street continues, and we’re happy to award them the title of Outstanding Contribution of the Year in 2018.”
