Brighton electronic troupe Regal Safari have just released a brand new free download in the form of a reworked ‘Lake’ by Manchester alt-poppers Egyptian Hip Hop.
With a much lauded debut EP released in the middle of 2011, Regal Safari quickly built a name for themselves with at once euphoric and passionately introverted take on electronica. The ‘R G L S F R’ EP saw the duo of Guy Etienne and Sean Galt (alongside visual compatriot Jozef) reach many a new ear, twinning their own reclusive electronic leanings with remixes for the likes of Mozart Parties, Crystal Fighters and more.
With a new EP in the works, this Egyptian Hip Hop remix of ‘Lake’ appears as a timely reminder of their effervescent strengths. Twisted from its original, shadowed heights, the Manchester ensemble drag the song’s fragile skeleton to the fore, overlaying crimson guitar lines and Battles-esque metrics, leaving the songs melodic cries as its only recognisable trace.
Regal Safari will be performing live on 27th January at The Old Blue Last, London and 29th January at Green Door Store, Brighton in support of Teengirl Fantasy.
