New York punks Big Ups are releasing their latest record Before A Million Universes via Tough Love and Brace Yourself Records on 4th March but are currently streaming the LP in full over on their SoundCloud page ahead of their upcoming UK tour. The album sees the Brooklynites exploring a wide range of topics, from capitalism to relationships, hinted at by the Walt Whitman reference in the title.
Across the 13 tracks, the group expand on the sound of their 2013 debut by injecting even more venom into their already feral brand of thrash guitars, screaming choruses and clattering drums. As tracks like ‘National Parks’ and ‘Meet Where We Are’ show, they’ve also become more nuanced, balancing loud and quiet elements and mixing in deadpan verses that catch the listener off guard.
Listen to ‘National Parks’ below. Stream Before A Million Universes on the band’s SoundCloud page.

29th March – Gullivers, Manchester
30th March – The Lexington, London
