Clement Marfo & The Frontline support Ghostpoet at special gig

Clement Marfo

Hotly tipped as a major new talent for 2012, genre-colliding septet Clement Marfo & The Frontline are confirmed a play a show supporting Ghostpoet as part of the Converse and 100 Club curated music series on December 15th.

Positivity, motivation and inspiration are the key buzz words circling around south London MC Clement Marfo and his band The Frontline. Based around a grime and hip-hop core, the collective straddle genres at will as they season their urban leanings with gargantuan pop hooks, sweet neo-soul vocals and a rush of energised rock dynamics. They’re the sound of the city streets, the sound of aspirational youth rising above societal problems, the sound of a multi-cultural community uniting rather than dividing.

The list of the collective’s supporters seems to be growing by the week following the release of their first Warner Bros. Records single ‘Overtime’. Support has already come from Mistajam, Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens, Semtex, Ed Sheeran, Sway, Smiler and Master Shortie to name but a few, as well as from MTV 2, MTV Base, NME, RDW, sbtv and Urban Development. At the same time, the band have built a reputation for their energetic and irrepressible live shows following dates with Plan B, The Streets, De La Soul, Example, Rizzle Kicks and Florence and The Machine and a place on Sara Cox’s Insanity Tour. Another sign of their impending stardom came when they nominated for a MTV Brand New for 2012 award.

Tickets for the show are free and are now available exclusively via the Converse UK website (www.converse.co.uk) and JD Sports (www.jdsports.co.uk).

The Converse and 100 Club curated music series kicked off in June this year when Graham Coxon headlined the first packed out show.  Since then, the likes of The Rapture, Everything Everything, Little Roy, Gross Magic and Fanfarlo have taken to the stage. Cementing the success of this unique partnership, Converse and 100 Club continue to deliver an exciting line-up for fans, showcasing today’s best and freshest emerging artists. The partnership also gives 100 Club the opportunity to introduce a new generation to its renowned gigs, by once again bringing the best music to its legendary stage. 100 Club will continue to oversee the schedule of performances as it has for over 65 years in addition to presenting this free series alongside Converse.
