The Anchoress – the moniker of Welsh-born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Catherine A. Davies – has announced the release of her debut album Confessions Of A Romance Novelist. The album was produced with the help of Paul Draper – formerly of British indie band Mansun – and is available for pre-order now from iTunes and as a deluxe gatefold CD with complete with a 20-page booklet.
Davies describes the album’s concept as: “deconstructing normative ideas of love and romance”, with each song sung by a different character – “what you might call a musical ghost-writing of sorts”.
Preceding the album are two sold-out singles, as well as a currently on-going tour with Simple Minds. Davies is also co-writing Paul Draper’s solo album as well as already beginning working with Bernard Butler on the follow-up album to Confessions Of A Romance Novelist.
