Following on from ‘Cyan’, Kindness announces details of his debut album. ‘World, You Need A Change Of Mind’ will be released through Female Energy / Polydor Records on March 19th 2012. The wonderful thing about the music Adam Bainbridge makes as Kindness is how little it tells you about its origins. It bears the fingerprints of no specific scene, no particular country, no certain era.
Co-produced with Philippe Zdar, the album was recorded and mixed at Zdar’s ‘Motorbass’ studio in Paris. A cast of various musicians join Bainbridge and Zdar on the album, the Grammy award-winning producer lending his talents to the drums on more than one track.
‘World, You Need A Change Of Mind’ takes in the leftfield New York disco dub testaments of Walter Gibbons and Larry Levan, the cosmopolitan arthouse funk rhythms of Grace Jones and the Tom Tom Club and the frictionless R&B of Alexander O’Neal, all swirled around with the blurry Polaroid pop of Ariel Pink.
