Track Of The Day #28: Sisterland – Dirty White

The Drums– talk about over hype! If a bunch of dullards like this can make it big time, then it proves you just need to get the press driving your cause, even without the need for talent. I love my indie, but bands like these (plus Vampire Weekend, Foals etc etc) are part of the reason a whole lot more folk have an avid dislike for my favourite brand. Somewhat untidily, that brings us to today’s band, Sisterland, whose sound bears some similarity to The Drums, but with a lot more purpose to it. I don’t know a whole lot about these guys, other than the fact there are three of them, they’re all pretty ugly and come from Leicester (or ‘Little Karachi’ as it’s better known). The attachment is the title track from their new EP “Dirty White” and I think it’s splendid. Credit elsewhere though, as I discovered this on the God Is In The TV site, where Luke Langlands writes a great singles review every few weeks. Check out the latest one here (https://godisinthetvzine.co.uk/index.php/2012/03/01/singles-round-up-27022012), as I intend to feature a couple more of the tracks from there soon.
