Track Of The Day #46: Fever Fever – The Chair

Fever Fever press shot

Its been a good season for Norwich in the premiership, Grant Holt notched thirteen goals which took the pie munching burly center forward on to the verge of selection for the England team and better still his head got so big he handed in a transfer request ! And what of Paul Lambert the fella guides them to a mid table safety with ease?On top of two promotions in two years materminded by his well thought out tactics, well drilled defenses and a squad of hungry players culled from the lower leagues. But what do Norwich get in return? Yes he’s linked with every vacancy going including Villa! Come on Delia!Let’s be havinnn ya?!

Anyway enough football chatter what I really want to say is that really the best thing to come out of Norwich REALLY in the last few years is post-punk-pop female fronted-three-piece Fever Fever, and what’s more if their spiky, fiesty clever-harmony laden noise and ear puncturing drum beats hadn’t caught your attention over the course of their indie label releases of the last few years(cuts like ‘TEETH’ , ‘Monster’ and ‘PINS’ were irresistable to these ears), then their most artful cut yet ‘The Chair’ a joust of players replete with machine gun like drum beats that set off controlled explosions of frazzled guitar licks and plantitive introspective refrains, it balances both the angularity of Wire and the riot-girl sound of Sleater Kinney, now THAT must surely appeal to you!?
