Switzerland is not a country normally renowned for its edgy alternative music scene. Glorious scenery, stylish ski resorts and extremely well ventilated cheese, yes, but channeling the spirit of low down dirty rock n’ roll? Hardly! However, all that is set
to change if Velvet Two Stripes have their way.
Consisting of sisters Sophie, Sara, and co-conspirator Franca, Velvet Two Stripes create a visceral sleazy psych-blues riffing musical avalanche that has seen them compared to the likes of The Dead Weather, Janis Joplin, and even Jimi Hendrix!
The trio are set to play a number of select UK shows ahead of the release of their début UK EP ‘ Fire ‘ – Their previous release ‘Supernatural’, generated blog buzz in the UK and was described as “a dirty, sleazy, sexy, prowling curb crawl of a record.” The fantastic ‘Fire EP’ released on 20th May picks up where ‘Supernatural’ left off, and looks set to mark Velvet Two Stripes out as the band to finally etch Switzerland’s name on the rock n’ roll map.
