NEWS: The Gentle Good returns with ‘Ruins/Adfeilion’ in October, shares ‘The Fisherman’

Acclaimed Cardiff singer-songwriter and folk musician Gareth Bonello, better known under the moniker of The Gentle Good, returns on 14th October with a brand new album Ruins/Adfeilion via Bubblewrap Collective.  It’s Bonello’s fourth album under the name and refers to a realisation that there is no real freedom to make the world as we would choose, but that we must live within the ruins of the previous generation.

While his last album, Y Barddd Anfarwol, combined both Chinese and Welsh traditions, this album is set to look closer to home while still encompassing some global themes.  Ruins/Adfeilion will talk about not ignoring smaller voices on the political landscape, refugees, trickle-down economics and, on a personal level, the death of his own grandmother, among other contemporary topics.

Bonello has also just shared the first track to be taken from the album, ‘The Fisherman.’  It’s a typically tender and bare-bones folk song that contains some vivid imagery and poetic lyrics.  Listen below.
