NEWS: Alessi reveals new video for ‘Wives’

Three years ago, Alessi Laurent-Marke released her final album under the Alessi’s Ark name, but is now back with a brand new single, simply under the name Alessi.  Alessi says of the process of splitting with her old moniker: “After a year of touring in support of ‘The Still Life’, I parted ways with my last label and worked in different environments; markets, shops, child minding, making art, healing courses whilst writing new music.”

Her new single ‘Wives’ is a wistful meditation on the nature of female independence, a gentle folk-rock number that’s simple but effectively gets the idea across.  Alessi says: “Wives is a meditation on womanhood and the powerful roles, responsibilities and loving duties all women strive to fulfil in their lifetimes.  Inspired by women in my own family, in my close circle of friends and in the widely woven feminine collective.”  The accompanying video is set in 1949, and centres around a heavy-drinking housewife who receives a letter that shakes her household.  Watch below.
