NEWS: Spiritualized, The Royston Club, Willy Mason, Snapped Ankles, The Mysterines, Adwaith and Islet amongst first wave for Focus Wales 2024

FOCUS Wales festival will welcome over 20,000 attendees, and see over 250+ acts from Wales and around the world descend upon Wrexham across 9th– 11th May. Today, FOCUS Wales are thrilled to reveal the first 70 new music acts for their 2024 festival, which is set to be their biggest edition to date.

Among the first acts announced today are… Kicking the festival off at Llwyn Isaf on the 9th May will be The Royston Club, returning home following a hugely successful year which saw the band deliver an extensive sold out UK tour in support of their debut album, which charted in the official UK top 20 this summer. Their performance at FOCUS Wales 2024 will be their biggest ever hometown show. Also that evening, the captivating and experimental, ghillie suited Snapped Ankles will play The Rockin Chair. Whilst triple harpist, Cerys Hafana, will take to the stage at St Giles’ Parish Church.


Having released a top 10 charting debut album in 2022, and toured with Arctic Monkeys throughout 2023, The Mysterines will release their highly anticipated 2nd album in the spring, and will play FOCUS Wales on Friday 10th May. That same evening, the otherworldly Flamingods return to Wrexham following the release of their successful 2023 album, ‘Head of Pomegranate’, a show they co-headline with two time Welsh music prize winners, Adwaith. Also that night, the much loved troubadour, Willy Mason, best known for his songs which include ‘Oxygen’, and ‘Talk Me Down’, will bring his expansive sound and huge back catalogue to Wrexham.


With a catalogue spanning across three decades, Spiritualized are entering a new era with the upcoming release of their 10th studio album in January 2024, and the multi-award winning band will headline the Llwyn Isaf Stage in Wrexham on Saturday 11th May. Supports on that show will come in the shape of exciting Welsh bands ISLET, and Seazoo, with more to be announced. Also performing on the Saturday are the explosive San Francisco alt-rock band Deerhoof. Whilst elsewhere on the Saturday the festival will host the winner of The Guardian’s Folk Album of the Year award, Angeline Morrison, who will play in St Giles Church, with support from the award winning Welsh singer-songwriter, The Gentle Good.
