The Jim Jones Revue – “It’s Gotta Be About Me” (Play It Again Sam)

In the 1950s It’s Gotta Be About Me would have been the soundtrack to a Hammer House of Horror short. It is taut, lean, hungry and scary as hell. The corpse of Alex Harvey is disinterred and struts and shimmies to the bastardised riff from School’s Out. It swaggers along with such gay abandon, oozing a barely suppressed sexuality from its every single groove. It is teenage rebellion music played by the kids’ older brothers and has Jim Jones cast as Christopher Lee. Man, this is frighteningly good.
