Girl Ray have announced details of their debut album Earl Grey due 4th August on Moshi Moshi. They have also revealed a stream of lead single “Preacher” the follow up to previous warmly received releases “Trouble” and “Stupid Things“.
It’s a wistful song in two parts, beginning as a plaintive acoustic strumalong before bursting into technicolor after 70 secs, it shows maturing songwriting ability from the young trio.Lead singer Poppy Hankin says of the song: “I wrote the melody for the first part a few years ago on a little toy Elvis guitar that I bought in a charity shop. Its tuning was really weird, and this song was the only thing I could really get out of it. The melody suited a love song, so I went with it.”
Girl Ray will headline a sold out show at the Lexington, London on 23rd May 2017. Another London show, their biggest to date, has been added at The Scala on 9th November. Girl Ray have also been confirmed for this year’s The Great Escape, Glastonbury, Green Man and End Of The Road festivals.
