NEWS: The Weeknd returns with ‘Heartless’

The Weeknd has shared new single ‘Heartless’. The Canadian announced his return by sharing the message “Tonight we start a brain melting psychotic chapter let’s go” before the song was made available. ‘Heartless’ is the R&B star’s first new material since 2018 EP My Dear, Melancholy. Its cover art features a blurry image of the singer wearing thick glasses and sporting much a new shorter haircut alongside a moustache.

The song is somewhat more uptempo than last year’s material and comes shortly after the singer announced that he was in “album mode full effect”. His last full album was autumn 2016’s 18-track Starboy. The new track includes lyrics such as “I’m heartless, tryin’ to be a better man, but I’m heartless.”. Part of another new song, ‘Blinding Lights’, can be heard on the latest Mercedes-Benz ad, which the artist also appears in. He is also set to star in a new film for the car manufacturer over the coming days as well as forthcoming crime movie Uncut Gems. He also collaborated with Travis Scott and SZA on ‘Power is Power’ from Games of Thrones’ For the Thrones compilation earlier this year.
