The project invites submissions to redesign the cover for 7″ vinyl versions from a list of 7 classic tracks with 100 of each being selected. Copies will then go on sale for £50 each on 2nd May following an exhibition of the 700 finalists from 8th April – 1st May. The ‘secret’ part being that the actual content of each copy is unknown, as is the artist who created the cover until the purchase has been made. All profits from the sales go to charity with this years chosen recipient being Amnesty International UK.
In the past along with public entries submissions have been received from notable contributors Sir Peter Blake, Yoko Ono, David Shrigley, Sir Paul Smith, Goldie and more.
The tracks for 2016 are:
S729 – Chvrches – Clearest Blue
S730 – Etta James – At Last
S731 – Jack Garratt – Worry
S732 – The Jam – Art School
S733 – John Lennon – Imagine
