Track of The Day #432: Woodpecker Wooliams – Crow

Oh no! Woodpecker Wooliams is no more! The musical project of Brighton’s Gemma Williams has been laid to rest, which is bad news given how much I loved the creak and whirr of the album. However, bang-not-whimper, so here is a swan-song in the form of one last brilliant Leonardo Machado directed video for ‘Crow’.

It starts with some underwear clad lovely, filmed with all MTV panache, stalking down a stylish hallway. But this ain’t no Robin Thicke, as we realise all is not as it seems and we are dealing with ‘themes’ and ‘internal dialogues’ (yes, I know I’ve overused the ‘quotation marks’). What do you do when you obey those self-help entreaties to love yourself, and it gets rough?

I’d better say – NSFW

    1. Not that I’m aware of Bill, though I’d love to find that I’m wrong. I’m sure that will happen, due to her connections with Willkommen Collective if nothing else
